Water , of potatoes and grains in brackish water , of tomatoes that defy frost , and of other wonders we cannot even imagine now . We do not yet know when such wonders will come to pass . Researchers are , therefore , presently aiming at more limited goals that may be achieved in the short run . यदि प्राणी तथा वनस्पतियों के जीनों का समेकन करने में कम सफल हो जाते हैं तो हम ऐसी वनस्पतियासं उत्पन्न कर सकेंगे जो समुद्र के पानी में पैदा की जा सकेंगी , आलू तथा अन्य खाद्यान्न खारे पानी में पैदा होंगे तथा पाले का सफल मुकाबला करने वाले टमाटर के पौधे और ऐसी ही अनेक चमत्कारी वनस्पतियां उगा सकेंगे जिनकी कल्पना तक आज हम नहीं कर सकते .
